Drinking water in mexico is always a concern. 99% of the time the water that comes out of your tap is safe enough to brush your teeth with, but would not be recomeneded for drinking. Both due to possible contaminants, and due to high mineral amounts.
Here in Mexico the purified Garrifons are the way to go. They come in different brands (we usually use Cristal) and are availabe at most supermarkets, Oxxos, 7/11s, and other neighborhood corner stores. Normally you pay a 50ish peso deposit and 50ish pesos for the 20L of water. Once empty you can exchange the empty Garrafon for a full one and only pay for the water.
Price wise it is FAR more advantages to buy water this way, it also reduces plastic waste dramatically, and will last you multiple days.
No Google maps link this time - they are at just about every store in town.
Tulum DOES have SOME recycling services that we highly encourage you to take advantage of. There is no recycling service that will come to your house, but you can utilize a Punto Limpios center!
Punto Limpios has multiple reclycing centers located all over Tulum ensureing you are never to far away from one. They reclycle everything besides glass (which sadly here can only be thrown away).
The website is in Spanish, but the link below will take you to a map which shows all recycling centers in Tulum.

If you are new to Traveling and you forgot to activate an international plan before you left your home country, we highly recommend getting a local sim card and getting a local prepaid plan.
It is incredibly easy, and anyone can do it in less than 10 minutes. We recommend using Telcel. The main Telcel shop is located on the main road and you can get a simcard, and a plan at the same time. Incredily cheap, incredibly handy to have internet on your phone without wifi.
300 Pesos should cover you for up to a month for your every day uses. (you might run out if you only use the plan and still watch videos)
